WGC pool will remain closed for 2020

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Woods at Grassy Creek HOA pool facility will remain closed for the 2020 summer season. With no expected loosening of pool-related regulation in Marion County, concerns for increased risk and school beginning in three weeks, the Board has decided that it makes fiscal sense to permanently close the pool for the remainder of this year. The pool will be drained to the required level in the coming days, and the “Closed” sign will remain on the facility for the remainder of the summer.

We will review expected budget savings related to this decision and will pursue needed pool/pool house maintenance that will improve this valuable asset for future use.

Notes from the board meeting will be posted on this site tomorrow evening.

Please join us for a discussion about the WGC Neighborhood Pool

Summer has arrived, and as we’re all painfully aware, the pandemic threw a wrench in our normal pool opening plans for 2020. To help the HOA members understand new health department requirements related to the pool and discuss Board recommendations for how to proceed, please join us for a in-person discussion (please wear PPE or follow social distancing during the meeting, based on your comfort level):

Date:     Mon., June 15, 2020

Time:    7 p.m.

Place:    Green space near playground on the west side of our neighborhood (at the corner of Sedgehill Dr. and Marshside Ct.)

We recognize that this date/time might not work for all neighbors to attend; however, we wanted to engage homeowners in a discussion and determine our next steps ASAP. If you are unable to attend, but have questions you’d like us to address in our recommendations or during the meeting, please share your questions with someone who IS able to attend or email those questions to woodsatgrassycreek@gmail.com before Sat., June 13.

Updates will be posted the HOA neighborhood website AND Facebook page to share pool-related decisions following the meeting.

Spring Newsletter and 5/19/2020 Pool Update

Good afternoon neighbors,

By now you should have received your Spring WGC newsletter in the mail, but I wanted to make sure it was also posted online for your reference as well.

Spring HOA Newsletter 5-2020

With Memorial Day weekend nearly upon us and having received a couple questions this week on the topic, I want to officially confirm that THE POOL WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The board receives weekly updates and direction from the City (incorporating state and federal information), and we will continue to monitor the situation and provide future updates on when/if we can open for the season. Be assured that IF we can open this season, there will significant restrictions in place for WGC homeowners to adhere to. Stay tuned more more information in the coming weeks!

As always, please reach out with questions to the email inbox and we’ll reply ASAP. Have a great evening!

Happy New Year WGC neighbors!

Yes, I know, it’s nearly the end of January. WOW, this month went WAY too quickly…but then again, Spring can arrive sooner if it likes. The earlier the better for me! The WGC board had our first meeting of the year, Tues. Jan. 14, and meeting notes have been posted to the website for your reference.

If you have any questions on items discussed, please reach out via email.
Thanks, and hope to see you outside soon when warmer weather prevails!

Happy Holidays…and a couple small reminders

Happy Holidays

Winter is certainly upon us, and the holidays and 2020 are drawing near. We thought it was a great time to share some neighborly best wishes and reminder or two to help make our holiday time merry!

  1. Enjoy every minute of your celebrations with family and friends. However, based on a couple incidents in the last 2-3 weeks, we ask that you celebrate responsibly and be aware of guests’ ability to drive home safely. Neighbors have already lost a mailbox and a hydrant due to hazardous driving, and we certainly wouldn’t want to cause further damage or endanger lives during the holiday (or ever, for that matter). Uber and/or Lyft are a great option when driving isn’t one!
  2. The WGC towing policy is still in place during the holidays. If you have family or friends staying over or visiting past midnight any evening, please email the HOA inbox at least 24 hours in advance to let us know. Include your address and dates you expect cars to be on the street in that email. This will give us time to contact our towing company and let them know you have been given an exemption for that period of time. As always, the pool parking lot can be used for extended parking as well; however, we’d recommend emailing the HOA with your plans to use that option as well for general awareness.

Happy holidays from the WCG Board

A great Trunk or Treat event

TOT 1 TOT 11
There was a great turnout for our first WCG Trunk or Treat event today! We had 6 “trunks” for judging,  but most importantly — neighbors enjoyed two hours of candy, conversation…and kids playing together on a beautiful fall day.

If you’d like to check out and vote on the trunk submissions, please head over to our neighborhood Facebook page: The Woods at Grassy Creek HOA

If you’re not yet a member of the WGC Facebook page — check it out! Just go to Facebook, search “The Woods at Grassy Creek HOA” (or click the link above) and request membership (you’ll have to answer two questions to identify yourself as a WGC HOA member). The Facebook page is intended to encourage open dialogue in the neighborhood…a place to share what’s going on, sell stuff, look for babysitters or otherwise engage with your neighbors and build community.
